Mentoring

Group mentoring and one-on-one mentoring are available.

I am passionate about supporting Chinese medicine practitioners as they develop confidence in their clinical and professional lives. The transition from study to practice can be challenging, and practitioners may find themselves working in isolation, uncertain about clinical decisions, or unsure how to build and sustain their practice.

Through individual mentoring and professional development programs, I provide a supportive space to discuss clinical practice, reflect on challenges, develop practical skills and explore the direction you want your practice to take. My approach is not about prescribing one way of doing things, but helping practitioners develop their own clinical identity, confidence and a practice that feels both authentic and sustainable.

A particular focus of my mentoring is structured case reporting. I support practitioners to recognise the value in their everyday clinical work and learn how to transform clinical cases into well-structured reports that can be shared, presented or published.

Case reporting is about more than publication. The process encourages reflection on clinical reasoning, treatment decisions and patient outcomes, while making the knowledge generated in everyday Chinese medicine practice more visible. Sharing this work also creates opportunities for peer learning, professional dialogue and stronger connections between clinical practice, education and research.

I see structured case reporting as both a valuable reflective practice for the individual clinician and an important way for our profession to build and communicate its own practice-based evidence.

The Essentials (Beyond Technical Skills)

Skill development

Mentoring is essential in the health professions, fostering skill development, confidence, and professional growth. It helps practitioners navigate complex cases, refine clinical acumen, and stay connected to a supportive community. A key aspect of my mentoring is guiding practitioners in structured case report writing—a scientific and reflective process that deepens understanding, sharpens practice, and contributes to the body of TEAM knowledge. Through this work, we not only strengthen individual confidence but also advance the profession collectively.

Quality of Care

Beyond technical skills, mentoring promotes empathy, resilience, and effective communication—qualities crucial for patient-centred care. This guidance ensures the next generation of practitioners is well-equipped to meet evolving healthcare needs, enhancing the overall quality of care while fostering a collaborative, supportive professional culture.

Brigitte Linder, Chinese medicine practitioner and mentor, at her clinic in Bass Coast, VIC

Why work with Brigitte

Brigitte brings more than 25 years of clinical experience to her mentoring, alongside a background in business, education and research. She has established and managed Chinese medicine clinics and a herbal dispensary, and is the author of Chinese Medicine Business Success, written to support practitioners in developing the practical skills and confidence needed to build sustainable practices.

Her work increasingly brings together clinical practice, education and research. Brigitte is a PhD candidate at the NICM Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University, where she is investigating the value and use of structured case reporting in Chinese medicine. She has also contributed to the development of the Chinese Herbal Medicine Case Report Guidelines (CHM-CARE).

As a mentor, Brigitte draws on this combination of clinical, business and research experience to meet practitioners where they are. Whether the focus is clinical confidence, professional development, practice management or structured case reporting, her aim is to help practitioners reflect on their work, develop their own professional direction and recognise the value of the clinical knowledge they already hold.
